- With the arrest of one accused person two cases of Cyber Crime having the ingredients of impersonation, extortion, blackmail, fake identity , cheating and beyond that sexual assault in one of the case have been worked-out.
- The accused person use to create fake profiles on different matrimonial sites to attract the prospective girls and their families, thereby indulging in various criminal activities on the pretext of marriage.
- During the search two mobile phones, one laptop and one wifi communication device have been seized.
The Cyber Cell of Special Cell has arrested AnuragMendiratta R/o Dwarka Delhi-110045 age 41 and has worked-out two cases, one registered at Cyber Cell and other one at PS CR Park. In the case registered at Cyber Cell the complainant had leveled the allegation of cheating by a profile with name of SiddharthWalia at two of the prominent matrimonial portals. The complainant was cheated to the tune ofRs. 6 lacks on the pretext of Cancer treatment of his ailing father. In the other case registered at PS CR Park the accused person had created a profile by the name of SiddharthOberoiand further personally met the complainant with the real identity of AnuragMendirattaand projected him as a cousin brother of SiddharthOberoi. In the process AnuragMendirattacajoled the complainant on one pretext or the other and subsequently sexually exploited herand blackmailed her.
A complaint was received at Cyber Cell in which a case was registered and investigation was taken up. The complainant alleged that she was working in health sector and her family was looking for a good prospective matrimonial match for which they were alsousing different online portals. In the process she was contacted by one person whose online identity was SiddharthWalia who had painted a picture of having high credentials both socially and economically. In his profile he had projected himself as working at a very senior position in a reputed media house based in Mumbai. He had colored a good picture of himself in front of the girl and her family. He had started communication with hertelephonically and also on social media portals.
After few months SiddharthWalia told that he has shifted to UK for the treatment of his ailing father. The victim being from the health sector asked few queries in which the accused person told about various doctors and hospitals in Mumbai and Delhi where he had got the treatment of his father. He convinced the complainant that he can go extra mile to save his father and does not mind spending any amount of money on him. When he had won over the total trust of the complainant he started cooking up a story that the fund transfer from India has encountered some problem from his bank. He further told that to rectify the same he has to visit India but his situation is not allowing him as he is alone with his father for his treatment at United Kingdom. He induced the complainant to deposit money in an Indian account given by him.
The complainant fell prey to the well concocted story and deposited 6 lacks Rupees in the recommended account. After this he stared avoiding the complainant and even verballyabused her. On this the complainant got suspicious and went to Mumbaipersonally to meet him with her family and came to know that no such person by the name of SiddharthWaliais working or staying in Mumbai. After this she demanded her money backbut she was threatened.Finding herself cheated she lodged the complaint.
During investigation the technical analysis and physical verificationprovided the leads through which AnuragMendirattawas identified as using fake profile in the name of SiddharthWalia and he was arrested after sufficient evidencewascollected. He was subjected to intensive interrogation during which he disclosed his criminal plot and even a similar crime having larger ramification came to light. He had exploited one more girl on similar pretext wherein he had even resorted to blackmail extortion and assault. On the getting the whereabouts of the victim it was verified and found that one case against him by name had been registered at PS CR Park.
AnuragMendirattawas subjected to intensive interrogation and he disclosed that he met one girl while he created another fake profile with the name of SiddharthOberoiin which he had projected himself as country head of a very prominent Sport Channel and well settled initially at Mumbai and subsequently shifted to Dubai. In the process SiddharthOberoitold the complainant that one of his Cousinbrother will meet her and she can be in touch with him. When the complainant met AnuragMendirattashe found a lot of similarity in voice of AnuragMendirattaand SiddharthOberoi. SiddharthOberoiwon the trust of complainant that she started feeling that they will soon become life partners.
When she came in the total control of SiddharthOberoihe sensed a good opportunity to exploit her. On social media platform communication SiddharthOberoicreated very important place for AnuragMendirattaand expressed his total indebtedness towards him on economical social and emotional fronts.AnuragMendirattathen started exploiting the victim in which she was emotionally forced by the online entity of SiddharthOberoi. In the process the accused even physically met the victim’s family and created a wrong aura of his importance to getting the victim married to SiddharthOberoi. When this process continued for long she could sense that she is being taken for a ride and is being cheated/tortured/harassed by AnuragMendirattaand she had lodged a complaint in the concerned police station. The investigation and operation was undertaken by Cyber Crime Cell of Special Cell with the team led by Addl. DCP KPS Malhotra comprising ACP RD Meena, Insprs.PawanjeetKaur, Samarpal Singh, K P Sah, Vijay Gahlawat, Monika Shori, SIs Manjeet, Dharmendra, Parbhat, ASIs Anil Kumar, R Subramaniam HC ManojCts Rahul , Rahul Sharma,Rakesh,, Prashant , Randeep, Vikash andShelesh.
