CARTRIDGES RECOVERED!

With the arrest of dreaded criminal namely Mohd. Ashraf @ Ashu @ Guddu S/o Mushtaq Ahmed R/o H. No. 3-B, DDA Flats Pocket ‘A’, New Jafrabad, Delhi (aged 23 years) wanted in a cold-blooded murder case of PS Seelampur, Delhi, the South-Western Range of Special Cell has nipped in the bud  criminal activities of notorious and desperate ‘Nasir Gang’ operating in North-East District. A reward of Rs. 50,000/- was declared by the Commissioner of Police, Delhi for his arrest. A country-made pistol with two live cartridges has been recovered from this possession.

BRIEF OF THE CASE:

On the night intervening 2/3.05.2016 at around 10.00 p.m., a person namely Sh. Mahender @ Mahendru was gunned-down by 4-5 desperate assailants in the area of PS Seelampur, Delhi. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 279/16 U/S 302/34 R/w Sec. 25/27 Arms Act was registered at PS Seelampur, Delhi. In furtherance of the investigation, one of the assailants Waseem, was arrested. The investigation further revealed that Waseem and his associates namely Mohd. Ashraf @ Ashu, Samir @ Chhotu and Azim etc. were involved in numerous robbery & snatching cases and are also involved in ‘betting racket’ in North-East District. Nasir, who is presently lodged in jail, is a ‘King-pin’ of the gang. The gang members believed that Mahender was trying to pass the information to the police regarding their nefarious activities including their ‘betting racket’. They hatched a conspiracy to eliminate him so that no one dares to raise any voice against them in future as well. On the fateful night, they went to the shop of Mahender, dragged him out of his shop and shot him. Deceased Mahender succumbed to multiple bullet injuries. After the arrest of accused Wasim and Sharief, remaining accused had gone underground to evade their arrest. A reward of Rs. 50,000/- was declared for the arrest of accused Ashraf @ Ashu, Samir @ Chhotu and Azim by the Delhi Police. In the recent past, Azim was arrested by the Crime Branch, however, accused Ashraf @ Ashu and Samir @ Chhotu were still at large.

Apart from the above, these gang-members had rivalry with another gang viz. ‘Irfan @ Chhenu Gang’ over kingship on the betting racket and Extortion money from the local traders. Irfan @ Chhenu, the kingpin, is also lodged in the jail. The height of desperation of these gangsters can be assessed through the fact that some of them are playing vital roles and operating even from Tihar Jail itself. In the month of December 2015, the gang-members of Nasir Gang, equipped with deadly weapons intruded into the Karkardooma Court complex they opened fire and attempted to kill Irfan @ Chhenu, in the court room, who was escorted by HC Ram Singh of 3rd Battalion. HC Ram Singh succumbed to multiple bullet injuries, whereas, accused Irfan @ Chhenu and a court staffer was able to survive despite having been received with gun-shot injuries. The bullet went pass the dais without hurting the Magistrate. However, one of the bullets hit his chair in blind gun-battle in the court.

TEAM &OPERATION:

Keeping in mind the gravity of the case, a special team, headed by Inspr.Dinesh Arya &Inspr. Ishwar Singh, consisting of SI Rakesh Malik, SI Hansa Ram ,ASI Bhim Singh, HC Dheer Singh, Ct. Jitender, Ct. Deepak, Ct. Praveen and Ct. Anil was formed under the guidance of Sh. Akhileshwar Sawroop Yadav, ACP/SWR and under overall close supervision of the undersigned. The entire team was put on job to gather maximum secret inputs about these gang-members.

OPERATION & INVESTIGATION:

On 20.07.2016, specific secret information was received that Mohd. Ashraf @ Ashu, wanted in the above-mentioned case of cold-blooded murder, has been hiding in Mohalla Nallu, Amroha city U.P.  The team reached Amroha, where it was learnt that the said accused has gone to Delhi. The team, accordingly, moved back to Delhi and reached ISBT Anand Vihar and laid a trap at the vantage points of bus terminal and the bus stand fixed for the buses coming from Amroha. At around 10.00 p.m., the accused was apprehended near the exit gate. On his cursory personal search, a country-made pistol along with two live cartridges were recovered. Hence, a case under  Arms Act was registered at PS Special Cell, New Delhi.

INTERROGATION:

On sustained interrogation, accused Mohd. Ashraf @ Ashu confessed his guilt of being involved in a gruesome murder case of Seelampur area. On 9.3.2016, a lady was travelling in rickshaw Mohd Ashraf alongwith one Amir came on a scooty and snatched the purse of lady and sped away the lady immediately called up the Constable, who chased the accused persons. During the chase their scooty broke down and Amir was apprehended by the Constable while Mohd Ashraf managed to escape from the spot. Besides this, he confessed about his involvements in about half-a-dozen robbery and snatching cases of East & North-East District.

PROFILE OF THE ACCUSED:

Accused Mohd. Ashraf @ Ashu was born in the area of Balli Maraan and his family shifted to trans Yamuna area (Jafrabad) about 20 years back. He is a school drop-out after 9th standard. At his early age he fell in the company of bad elements and local goons of the area. He then became alcoholic and drug addict and  started consuming drugs like smack, gaanja etc. His father is working in a garment shop in Chandani Chowk, Delhi. His family comprises 3 brothers and 2 sisters. The entire income of his family was meagre to fulfil the basic requirements. Since, he couldn’t get the money to buy the drugs, he started snatching.
