A team of Northern Range, Special Cell led by Inspr. Vivekanand Pathak under the supervision of Shri Pankaj Sood, ACP has arrested infamous Bareilly based Interstate drug trafficker Farid Khan, aged 38 years, r/o Distt. Bareilly, UP from his house. He was wanted in case FIR No. 06 dated 10/01/2018 u/s 21 & 29 NDPS Act PS Special Cell, Delhi and evading arrest since more than five and a half months. A cash reward of Rs. one lakh has been declared for his arrest. Mobile handset with SIM card used for drug trafficking activities has been recovered.
Development of Information

Special Cell in its crusade against drug suppliers had busted several national/inter-national narcotic drug cartels in this year by arresting several notorious members of these drug cartels and by recovering huge consignments of high grade heroin.
On 10.1.2018 sleuths of Special Cell arrested three notorious drug traffickers after painstaking efforts namely Savej, Ashique Ali and Anwar @ Mama and 4 kgs of fine quality heroin was recovered from their possession. A case vide FIR No. 06/18 dated 10/01/2018 u/s 21 & 29/61/85 NDPS Act PS Special Cell was registered in this regard. Upon sustained interrogation arrested accused persons disclosed that they procured heroin from Jharkhand at the instance of infamous drug suppliers of Bareilly namely Riyaz Khan @ Babu Khan and Farid Khan. Sustained efforts were made to locate and arrest Riyaz Khan @ Babu Khan and Farid Khan and a reward of Rs 1 lakh each was declared for their arrest. Riyaz Khan @ Babu Khan was ultimately arrested on 24/03/2018 from Bareilly and one kg of fine quality heroin was recovered from him.
  
Team conducted several raids to arrest Farid Khan. Technical surveillance was mounted and sources were developed and deployed to trace/find out the possible hide outs of Farid in Bareilly and adjoining districts.

Operation  
On 24/06/2018, specific information was received by SI Sandeep about presence of Farid Khan at his house in Bareilly. Accordingly, a raid was conducted at the residence of Farid Khan in Distt. Bareilly, UP and he was arrested in the above said case.  
Interrogation

Arrested accused Farid Khan was thoroughly interrogated. Farid Khan is a permanent resident of Distt. Bareilly, UP which is otherwise infamous area for narcotic drug activities. He is a matriculate.  He has some agricultural land in his village. About 15 years back, there had been massive legal cultivation of opium in several areas of Bareilly (UP) and Badaun (UP). There was profit in illegal cultivation of opium and also cultivating opium in larger area licensed by concerned authorities, cultivators of opium earned huge profit by selling illegal crude opium to drug traffickers. Farid Khan disclosed that he has been indulging in this illegal trade of drug supply since then and he used to procure the crude form of opium and processed the same into pure heroin. However, after blanket ban on the cultivation of opium in these areas, he developed contacts with some known drug suppliers of Bareilly and nearby areas of UP and Shamshad of Jharkhand. He used to receive heroin from these drug dealers through self or through his carriers and supplied the same to his parties in Delhi, Western UP and Haryana. Some of his carriers/associates have already arrested in this case. Presently, he has been in touch with another supplier of Bareilly and continuing this illegal trade.
