Closing Ceremony of the Road Safety Awareness Summer Camp – 2018

The closing function of the Road Safety Awareness Summer Camp-2018 was held today at Traffic Training Park, Baba Kharak Singh Marg.
Sh. Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, was the Chief Guest at this occasion. The objective behind organizing the summer camp was to inculcate good road safety habits and also improve the awareness of participating students in various important aspects pertaining to life which would prove to be helpful in the overall development of their personality.
The summer camps were organized at four venues i.e. Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Roshnara Road, Punjabi Bagh & Bal Bhawan from 21st May to 15th June 2018. Around 2600 students from various schools of Delhi participated in the summer camps. They were imparted training in traffic rules and road safety, fire safety, first aid, disaster management, self defense techniques and designing of messages, posters with web based tools. With a view to sensitize the students about the nuances of traffic management, participating students were also taken to select intersections where they assisted Traffic Police in traffic regulation using hand signals. They also educated road users and distributed road safety literature to the public.
Speaking on the occasion Sh. Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, said, “Organising Road Safety Camp of school children is one of the most outstanding initiative, which Delhi Traffic Police has taken over the years to catch children at formative stage and make them used to traffic rules and regulations”. He stressed that we should take a pledge to obey traffic rules, as it would not only contribute to better traffic management in Delhi, but road discipline would also contribute to nation building as one of components. CP, Delhi also emphasised that such camps can prove to be very beneficial for the students, who in turn will sensitize their peers and parents to follow traffic rules. He commended Delhi Traffic Police for managing heavy Delhi traffic in climatic extremes.
CP, Delhi gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions. The best Nukkad Natak of Traffic Training Park, BKS Marg on the theme of road safety was also organised on the occasion. Each student was awarded with a certificate of participation on the conclusion of each batch of the summer camp.
The summer camp was organized with the support and cooperation of some corporate partners such as SIAM, IGL, Hero Motocorp, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Ltd. (HMSI) & JK Tyres and some NGOs namely Synergie, IL &FS etc.

Sh. Dependra Pathak, Spl. CP/Traffic, Jt. CP/Traffic Ms. Garima Bhatnagar & Jt. CP/New Delhi Range Sh. Ajay Chaudhary also graced the occasion besides representatives from the stakeholders & NGOs.
